It was winter as I shared, and there was a big snow pile that I wanted to go play on. One sister went with me. We climbed the snow mountain and skied down on our feet! Over and over and over...what fun!!! Then I fell and slid down the section of snow mountain that had dirt in it. The dirt stained my aunt's white jumpsuit heavily. I was devastated and ashamed at what I had done. My aunt was going to be so disappointed in me, she would never let me wear her amazing clothes again and I wouldn't be "cool" anymore, plus I didn't want her to be disappointed in me.
I was pretty upset when I walked in the house and showed the other sister what had happened. She smiled and took me in the bathroom. I stripped out of my dirty white jumpsuit and she got a bar of soap and a scrub brush and she began to scrub every single dirt stain out of that jumpsuit for me. All those stains came out, every one. It took her some time, but she worked and we talked, we laughed and she worked. She was so joyful and willing to help me. I will never forget what that felt like to me.
God does that too, but to our inside's. Friends can help you wash stains off the outside, but only God can take care of the inside. We have a lot of stuff going on in the inside of us that we might share with other people, but they are not able to reach inside and wash that stain for us. They can be there for us and support us. Sometimes the stain is impossible for them to see and they can't understand why it's there, because they can't see it. God see's it though. The Bible says and supports that God sees our hearts. That's why He can love us even if others see our faces are dirty. Aren't you glad that no matter what we look like on the outside, God looks deeper. He finds those hurts, those heartaches, those disappointments, and he washes them. Sometimes it will take a lot of soap and a lot scrubbing, but rest assured He will sit with you, talk with you, all the while working, he will laugh with you, cry with you, all the while working...until the stain is gone.
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins
and blot out all my iniquity.
Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
Morning God, Thank you for all you've done in my life. Thank you for sitting with me and helping erase the things that are etched in my head. All the times I slid down dirty hills. Thank you that you sat with me and washed me white as snow. In Jesus name. Amen
