We are a Christian Nation, and one that will come back to Christ. When our focus is on worldly things, we behave one way. When our focus is on Christ things, we behave another. They are two separate lives. And the way we live, shows by the fruits we bare.
Do you suppose that the past success of our nation depended perhaps on the foundation that we were built on Christ? You will have those that disagree, of course, I am one the believes that we are. Our currency states "In God We Trust". We prayed in our schools, we didn't hate the sinners, but we were allowed to speak against the sin. Now I'm not talking about "hate crimes" I'm talking about being able to take God's word and invest that into someone's life, while loving them, and allowing them to make their own decisions. Many of the things that have become governmentally legal sins, were never illegal to begin with, you had the free will to do them, but you also were told that the Bible said otherwise. We don't decide who God loves, because He loves us all. We don't decide who goes to hell, and we don't send people to purgatory, as that is not up to us to decide which eternity our dead ended up in, Humans don't get that decision, only God can Judge those things, but God judges us by His Word and He doesn't change his word to let us "squeak in just this once" You get one shot at this life and in this life God gives us many opportunities. God has told us how we should live and what sins He hates. He hates them because the "sin" separates us from Him and that is not our purpose.
What do you think about a Nation that it would appear is being attacked by depletion, attacks on our military, on civilians, on finances, on Christian Ethics, Morals, on our health system? This isn't a political rant, because I do not like Politics and I have no experience with it, but from a "little ol' me" perspective, I'm praying for God to step in.
Jesus said " “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’
We can't always sit back and let other's take away what holds us together. I really don't enjoy confrontation and Christ doesn't need a defender. I believe, however, that sharing Christ's love, seeing people set free from hurts, pains, and regrets, healed of diseases, and relationships being mended is far greater than the direction it appears we are headed. Don't you?
But if God's gotta shake things up, to change our perspective, then I have no objection to that either. He's trustworthy.
