Read today's scripture here: John 18:15-18 (go ahead it's very short)
All silliness aside, what have you had to go though while talking about Christ? Some of the negative things that happen here in the U.S. are that people decide they don't want to be your friend, they don't want to hang out with you, they call you crazy. Maybe you get bible thumper, maybe holy roller, maybe cult. Maybe you get to see some things on Facebook about how you are a hypocrite because you are not perfect like Christ, maybe they post how Christians don't act like they talk.
So what is the positive things that happen if you talk about Christ? You find people healed, set free of guilt, shame, bondage, you gain friends, you grow a close church family. Your conscious gets aware of Christ like things and you slowly stop doing things that have a negative impact on your life. More people start understanding the love of Christ. People find hope, joy, peace, patience. People learn how to work with people they haven't been able to before. Restoration begins. There are still challenges, every single day, but you deal with them in a different manner than you would have before.
So really you have to weigh out your options. Is it worth it?
Today is becoming different in the US. We have been pretty spoiled here, only having to deal with negative things mentioned above. Therefor we've all become a little lazy in sharing Christ. We let the preachers do it, because that's what they get paid to do, and no one hates a preacher right, because that's their job. But normal people here in the U.S. are under this secret code that you never talk Politics or Religion.
I say it's time to stop. You know why? Here in America, it is currently free to worship Jesus, and any other religion for that matter. While Christian worship is never controlling, there are some religions that want to use their God to overcome Jesus and anyone who follows him. They want to shut them up. It's been happening forever and it's for power. Today, we are starting to resemble more this passage we study today, when Christ was arrested and Peter denied him. It's not just friends we might loose, it's now the threat of our lives. Peter denied Christ, because he didn't want to be arrested, he didn't want to die. He was scared. We see that today with the media hype over ISIS posting video's of killing Christians. Why do they do it, what do they have to gain? It's like what Saul did, he killed Christians for a living, before he was knocked off his horse and God spoke to him. Then he became Paul and was inspired by God to write most of the new testament.
Seems like history always repeats itself sooner or later....
What would wiping all the Christians in the world do?
