First off, I love the fact that Jesus comforts his believers and assures them that although they can not go to the place he is going, he is going there to prepare a place for them. Many of we struggle with death, sickness, disease. It's all over the news, the media, in our daily conversations. Our medicine cabinets are full of prescription medications, some just to overcome the effects that some of the medications we are taking cause. We are scared to die. We don't know where we are going.
There's my inspiration, I knew it would come.
We are afraid of dying. Many of us don't know where we are going.
Jesus assures us that he is the way to heaven. When I awoke this morning, I thought of a really uncomfortable situation that I was in with family. Things that didn't bother me before I lived my life for Christ, started bothering me, and I wanted to protect my children from it. Because I took a stand against it, I was all of a sudden the "goodie two shoes" Christian. You know the one I'm talking about. Truth is, I did become the goodie two shoes Christian. I'm pretty proud of that now, but at that time, my heart was torn. Sometimes our conscious gets a little twisted and sometimes in life we start to compromise on things, things that lead to poor choices. It seems, however, when we start to live for Christ, God opens our eyes to things again.
I became aware of death.
Not only do I want God to help me repair the mistakes I've made, but I want to live a full life here on earth, during my time. I don't want to hurt people, I want to inspire them to live life to the fullest, but to do so without hurting other people in the process. I want my children to live a full, joyful life, without focus on the things that bring us down. I don't want to live a life dependent on rejection, let downs, shame, guilt, self medications, or hiding who I am. I want to live...
Until I die.
When I die, where will I go? I can reflect back to what Jesus shared with us, he says that if he is in the Father and the Father in him, than we have seen God. If God is within us and we are within him, than Jesus has prepared us a place in heaven. In other words, if you are in a full relationship with Christ, if you love him, believe in him, and live for him, he has prepared a place for you.
As long as I understand that, I no longer have to fear death, and I can live fully alive. How about you?
