On this journey, we have a several things that are going on. To begin with, you have a purpose. A direction, a destiny. You were created for a time such as this. To fellowship with one another. To love. To be in a perfect relationship with your creator. We have a God who loves you first and foremost. That will never change. Life changes daily, but God never changes.
Along the way we made a lot of mistakes, a lot of wrong turns, and we hurt a lot of people along the way. The Bible says we are like sheep, and we are. We have a Tempter, his name is many, and his ways are deceit. We've followed just about every dumb idea out there and got hung in so many fences and wandered so far off, we simply forget where we truly belong, and that is with Jesus. People say, "but it's hard to get back to living for Christ." I say, isn't it harder getting your feet hung up in fences all the time?
When John the Baptist prepared for Jesus's return, he told the people to "repent" for the kingdom of God was at hand. Jesus then came and He too started His ministry with "repent". I feel like everyone can have a fresh start, and this is how they do it. But Ang, I've done it a million times before, and it didn't work. No my friend you didn't, you decided you weren't going to do the thing you are doing before, but you never really saw the significance in how it was eternally separating you from God. When you repent, it means you have a mind change. It means it is no longer a matter of forcing yourself to stop doing that thing in your life. It is now a matter of life and death, and you open your heart up to let God do it.
When I say death, let me make clear that we go through two. An earthy death that you are familiar with, and an ETERNAL DEATH that the Bible talks about. When 911 struck our nation, we were unprepared. We did not believe that would have happened. But it did. Just like 911, our earthly death can happen at anytime, and after the earthly death, there is no more time to prepare for the eternal death. From the earthly death, you will immediately go to Jesus. Depending on what you did during your time here, you will be judged. No longer by the Christians of the world, but by Jesus. He will either say. "Well done, you faithful servant, enter the kingdom of heaven" or "depart from me you worker of iniquity, I never knew you". God loves you, but He also gave you his Word, and if he were to twist His word for anyone, then he is no longer faithful and true. He doesn't change his love, nor his rules for you. If a 911 occurred in your life right now. What would Jesus say to you? If you think he might say, depart, then the good news is, today you can repent.
Even if Hell is only 10%, would you want to know how to avoid it?
Jesus, I know I'm a sinner, I know I can't get through this life on my own. Thank you for loving me so much that you became the blood sacrafice on that cross for my sin. Because you walked this earth as a man, I acknowlege that you lived it in God's perfection, because you knew I would struggle. Then you poured out your blood on that cross to cover my mistakes. You were not finished there, once you bleed out of sacrifical blood, you rose as only God could, redeemed my life from Satan and preparred a way for me in heaven. God open my heart that I may find my way back to you. In Jesus Name. Amen.
