I received an email this morning about my first known negative public post about my book.
At first I cried.
Then I read it again.
Then I prayed.
Then I read it again...
I saw the fruits of my book and the fruits of the writer's words.
The writer used Casting out Demons of Gadarenes as a slam, and it has been just what I needed to get past the fears of rejection...God always knows what we need, when we need it, before we can even think it or ask it. I bet the writer, doesn't realize that I'm thankful for what she did, because God trades our ashes for beauty. I ask that God would bless her and her home and her family, bless her readers and touch their lives in only ways that God can.
Some people may like to use words to cut others down. I choose to use my words to build people up. I don't have a direct line to God for you. I have a direct line to God for me...and in my life, there may be times, such as the one I bared my most hurtful moments with you in "You've Been Conned, Defying Depression By the Grace of God" that I chose to share my personal relationship with Christ so that you might be inspired and encouraged.
The writer in this particular story slammed one of Jesus's most amazing miracles as told in the Bible. She mocked God's miracles...and I want to share with you the beauty of God's transformations in our lives. Perhaps I was considered in my day the Maniac of Gadarenes, and perhaps God transformed me into something beautiful...and because HE can do it for the Maniac, HE can do it for me, and because HE did it for me, HE can do it for you. Perhaps it didn't look the same way in all the situations, I didn't live in a tomb, and I wasn't bound to rocks, but I lived in my own prison and I was bound by sin, and the plan of God's salvation has never changed...
Here's the story:
Jesus Restores Two Demon-Possessed Men
When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. “What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?”
Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding. The demons begged Jesus, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.”
He said to them, “Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water. Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men. Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.
I read the blog again, and I smiled....
I'm not ashamed of how Jesus saved my family. I will share it with the world in hopes that my story may someday touch your life in a way that only Christ can. I don't have to be some famous theologian, some Harvard graduate, some medical professional, although these types of people are amazing and can touch lives for Christ also, I can be simple little old Angela Serocki, who sold her life out to Jesus, who admires Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan and Andy Griffith and who likes to visit with you about life. My story is not your story, my journey may not look the same as yours, but one thing I do know is that we all have the same Savior and it doesn't matter what the Demons look like in our lives, they can all be cast out into the pigs...
