Knowledge of how to be just like someone else, or who someone else says you should.
Did you know that some famous people have people who are hired to follow them around like crazy fans to create an image that we buy into! We see everything flocking to them and we want to love them too. We dream of what it is like to be rich and famous, live in a house with a 100 different rooms, Servants at their feet taking care of their every need. There is even self help books that teach you how to get it. If you just "follow this simple system" you can be just like them!
I had a talk with my son the other day. A serious one. He is having some trouble with one of his grades in school. We got down to the root and source of the issue, not to mention it's college algebra in a junior year, but we uncovered some things. On thing in particular, was that very strong in my husband and my hearts are to allow our boys to grow up to be who they want. We don't push them, we don't instruct them, we maybe suggest some ideas, but we will be 100% behind who they choose. There are things that are important that if they get tough, we have to keep pushing forward, but if they are not important to us, and we are just doing it to please someone else, we need to let them go.
Life is so short to live someone else's life or for someone else. Unless that someone else is Christ. To be happy in life, we have to listen to that inner voice that helps instruct us and teach us. We have to get into the words and listen to how God speaks. Proverbs speak of wisdom, Psalms speak of worship, the parables teach us lessons. Living for Christ does not make us want to sin, it doesn't make us want to be someone else, it doesn't make us worry about money or being rich. It teaches each of us how to live in the way we were created and of the desires of our hearts. It's one in the same. God is for us, he knows your design, and how to get you to where you want to be. Self help books can't do that. They may tug at your heart strings, but only God's word can be 100% all about you.
Psalm 139:13-14
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
Morning God, thank you that you created me to be me. Thank you that when I ask the questions, you provide the answers. Thank you for showing me that I am special and have purpose in your eyes. Thank you for creating me in your image and in your likeness so I can explore and be a part of all that you have for me. In Jesus name. AMEN
