Putting your life into anyone's hands other than Jesus leads you to "their destiny" not yours. I've depended on employers, parents, relatives, friends, and although they are there, they can't get me to where I'm going. Why? Because I have to step out of the boat and walk on water myself.
I've been thinking about a pack of wolves and how they've migrated further our direction. They do this because they need to start their own bloodline, but they can't do it where a bloodline is already established. Therefore a male wolf has to venture out to claim new territory. Claim new territory.... interesting isn't it? What does that mean to you? When you're looking through God lenses it might mean touching lives for Christ. I've always been one to stay close to the pack. I live just under a 1/2 a mile from where I grew up and my family. It's comfort, I can't fail here, but I'm not expanding and that can leave you feeling mighty empty. The internet is amazing for a resource, it can allow an "Abraham" to claim new territory in a barren land. It allows you to find needs and meet them.
What does it mean "stepping out of the boat"...?
It means you are ready to trust Christ and believe that through Him, you will make a difference. Regardless of the waves and the wind, He's always going to be there. So you might as well keep going, because you will never sink!
Go ahead my friend "step out of the boat"!
But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage!" It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.
