People including ourselves expect a certain thing from Christians. Perfection. I have a lot going on within me that is certainly not perfect. I'd sure like to speak my hurt heart some days, I'd like to do what my human nature wants to do, and my spiritual nature and my knowledge of scripture begin to battle with that. Knowing the word and living it can be two different things. People worry about not knowing bible verses. Sure you want to study scripture, because in them are life. But.... in them are also instruction. People can be very complacent and careless when they know they are under Grace. Grace doesn't give you a license to live the rest of your life in disobedience. As much as we like to cut out the ACTION part of faith, without it...Faith is dead.
OK...Faith in Jesus will get you to heaven, but without action, it won't help anyone else get there.
Sometimes you just get to a point where it gets tough. Much tougher than the road before you. That's when you have to trust Christ, who makes this life easy. Here is what you need to do. Embrace this Spiritual walk. No, not just put your little pinky in it...I mean jump in, head first, forsaking everything else....no I mean everything else. Dive in, completely submerge and stay there. You won't drown, you will find that it will be at that point that nothing is too much for you. If you are only depending on other people's teaching of the word, you are going to be confused and frustrated. God made the word for you. For you to read, to walk, to understand, to live.
I realized the other day that for years I have not prayed before I go to bed... in years. I talk to God all day, but what used to be habit, has not been there for years. It made me cry. Pray for absolutely everything in your life. About everything in your life. If you want all God has...that's how you get it.
Mark 11:22-24 New
“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Morning God, thank you for being our teacher. Thank you that when we look to You, we are assured that we do not need to worry about any mountains in our lives. Thank you God that because of the Holy Spirit and the price Jesus paid for our sins, we can come directly to You in prayer. Help us lean on You, trust You, be guided by You. Gently remove all that is hindering us from our walk with You. God help us to learn Your word by a personal relationship with You verses depending on someone feeding it to us. Thank you for increasing our knowledge of You. In Jesus Name, who is above all names, AMEN.
