Read today's scripture here: John 19:1-16
We just watched the movie "God's Not Dead" and there are a lot of heart checker moments in that movie. Whether you liked the movie or not, one thing is for sure, they are attempting to prove that "God's Not Dead."
I think we do the same thing today that they did then. History always seems to repeat itself. That's why I'm thankful for the history of the Old Testament. Today, I listen to people say "we aren't supposed to talk about religion". I hear the mutterings of what people say when you have a gung ho Christian all sorts of fired up about God and what God can do, laying hands on people and praying for people's healing and people's spiritual freedom...how dare those crazy people, they've taken it too far! I'm amused by people that say that it's too much to raise your hands in church or holler AMEN or to stand in front of a church and say what you hear God telling you. God is relational, and people as you know, see relationship in many different ways and expressions.
For most people, worshiping a God at the tomb, who doesn't do miracles or talk to people, or heal anyone is much easier for their minds to wrap around.
What if we weren't so set on KILLING CHRIST. What if we as Americans, as Humans, as a World, started to live like God was alive, performing miracles, saving lives, healing hearts and bodies. What if that wasn't strange, or crazy or cultish. What if you were blown away everyday but what you thought God couldn't do for you.
Would we still scream KILL JESUS?
