John 20:29
Why do we believe? I mean really why do we keep hashing this up, sharing the Gospel, plunging it down people's throats, judging sin, speaking out loud, it's simply insanity for the most part. You know, the doing something over and over and over and expecting different results. Oh wait, but people aren't coming or listening, so we must be doing it wrong. Right?
I've been doing this long enough to know that sharing the gospel is easy and yet it isn't. Trying to get someone to understand your experience. It's like trying to share with other married couples how your marriage is supposed to work out. If people are simply watching your life and marriage, they won't make it, because you are dealing with two different people. Yet the foundation can be the same. If you commit to a promise and you promise not to break it, carry the foundational principals, than you are off to a great start. Remember your traditional wedding vows:
Tony, do you take Angela to be your wedded wife, to live together in marriage? Do you promise to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health, and forsaking all others, be faithful only to her, for as long as you both shall live?
{I do.}
Angela, do you take Tony to be your wedded husband, to live together in marriage? Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health and forsaking all others, be faithful only to him so long as you both shall live?
{I do.}
Did we keep those promises? Nope, not always. Did our lives become messed up? Yes, most certainly. Did we renew those vows and try again with Christ as our center? Yes! Did it work this time? Yes, most certainly!
Likewise, It's hard to believe in Christ when you can't see Him, you don't get the right results, you get hurt, bad things happen, you get sick, you are in pain, people reject you, you lose your job, you don't get your way, or whatever, but the truth is, He's still there.
We don't all have to see things exactly the same, because we are all different with different needs and different circumstances. We use each other as sounding boards. My blogs are not intended for you to duplicate your life after, it's simply a tool for you to maybe relate, or not, to perhaps find a reason to search out Christ, to maybe take a look at forgiveness different, to be encouraged to live your own lives out as you wish, in freedom.
My way is not the way to follow...but Christ being your foundation is.
I'm familiar with many stories...but I've not heard yours. I bet it's different from mine, and that's perfectly ok.
