That's before I knew Christ.
Sometimes we are fed truth's that are lies. We accept what the world says and we are conditioned to believe it. We trade the truth we had for a controlled world, consisting of power hungry people that believe success looks like stomping on everyone we can and puffing out our chests and saying "we win!"
I love the song by Pink Floyd "Wish You Were Here"
So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
Did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
I love the last line...did you exchange, a walk on part in the war...for a lead roll in a cage....
Did We?
God says this about your success: You get one life and a million opportunities. He is beside you continually and never gives up. He never says you have one shot. You don't. The Bible says His Mercies are new EVERY MORNING. It also says that God knows the plans He has for you. Maybe they are not the same as yours. The Bible says that God's plans are to prosper you and not to harm you. Perhaps the way you are wanting to go, is a path of destruction, and God won't allow you to be destroyed. The Bible says God's plans are to give you a hope and a future, perhaps your ways are leading you to frustration and despair. God knows what you need even before you can ask or think, and He's already working on it. He also promises to never leave you or forsake you. You don't just have one chance my friends....if your still breathing, God's got a plan to save you. Trust Him!
You do however have one life. We are never assured how long this earthly life will be, so the only thing you want to make sure of is that you've asked Jesus into your heart. Build a relationship with Him. Walk with Him. That way, since God is the only one that can judge us, when the door of eternity opens, you will be sure that Jesus will say, "well done you good and faithful servant, enter the kingdom of heaven".
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
